about

I have been involved in the breeding and showing of purebred dogs since 1971. I first had Basset Hounds for a short time, then Shih Tzu for many years. I bred/owned many champions over the years. One of the accomplishments of which I am most proud is being the breeder of Int. Ch. Nakota Banjo Man, the top winning Shih Tzu in Argentina for 1992-93.

I met my first Chinese Crested, Ch. Chargi's Kaleidascope, about eight years ago and it was love at first sight! I had to have one! I have since gotten out of Shih Tzu altogether due to arthritis in my hands and the extreme amount of grooming required in the breed. Now the breeding and showing of Nakotah Chinese Crested is my main interest.

I began the Nakotah line with Chinese Cresteds purchased from Gertrude Corbett's Tebroc line. The Tebroc dog to make the most impact on my breeding program was Tebroc's It's The Right One Baby (Pepsi) a female powderpuff. I later added Chargi's Remington Steele(Puffer) from Gigi Law of Chargi Chinese Crested fame and found he crossed very nicely with my Tebroc stock. It is a combination of these dogs that made the foundation of Nakotah Chinese Cresteds. Pepsi and Puffer have both produced multiple champions in both the US and Canada. We did a good bit of showing in Canada becuase of our location in North Dakota.

My daughter Shelly has been my dog show companion since she was about 6 years old. She is now 17 and soon to be a senior. She has shown in the classes as well as in junior showmanship with the Cresteds and her Whippet, Jill!
